Limited Power Restored in Garden City
Post date: Oct 31, 2012 2:22:56 PM
UPDATE: 7:00 p.m. 10/31/12
As of this morning, the Garden City campus has limited power restoration and we are cautiously optimistic that this will remain in place. In the meantime, we are using back up power to ensure sustained operations to campus services. Due to regional service provider issues, there is limited inbound phone service but outbound service is working and internal campus phones are also working. We are in active discussion with the provider and will keep you updated on this issue. Residential life is connected to public safety via walkie talkies and cell phones. As we have power on campus, cell phones are working and can be charged without issue. The cafeteria is operational and students can move about the campus.
The Happauge and Manhattan Center still have no power and remain closed. Hudson Valley remains closed as well. As a reminder, these are not residential facilities.
Due to power outages caused by Hurricane Sandy, Graduate Priority Registration has been moved to Monday, November 5th and Undergraduate Priority Registration will begin on Thursday, November 8th. In addition, the last day to withdraw from a class has been extended to Wednesday, November 7th.
